About An Honest Take

One person. No scripts. Just the truth.

We’ve all seen them: the "reviews" that read like press releases, the fake enthusiasm for mediocre gadgets, and the "Top 10" lists written by people who have never actually touched the products they’re recommending.

I’m over it.

I’m a senior software developer currently working in the e-commerce sector. My professional life is spent building systems that need to work, and my personal life is spent finding ways to make technology work for me—not the other way around.

My Philosophy: Productive "Laziness"

I’m always looking for ways to work smarter (and, let’s be real, be a bit lazier). I don't care about brand loyalty or flashy marketing. I care about value and efficiency. I’m a Linux convert for both work and play, yet I currently carry an iPhone. Why? Because right now, it’s the tool that fits my workflow. But my loyalty isn’t fixed; it has to be earned every single day. If something better or more efficient comes along tomorrow, I’m gone.

The "Honest" Promise

The affiliate links you’ll find on this site are a way to support my work, but they will never dictate my opinion.

  • If I use it and love it, I’ll tell you why.
  • If I think it’s overpriced or under-engineered, I’ll tell you to save your money.
  • If I wouldn't spend my own hard-earned cash on it, I won't ask you to spend yours.

Beyond the Code

When I’m not debugging or tinkering with my setup, I’m probably trying to maintain some semblance of balance. Like any self-respecting millennial, I am legally required to be powered by caffeine before 09:00 AM.

I’m a "jack of all trades" when it comes to staying active—whether it’s Zwifting, bouldering, running, or strength training. I believe physical fitness and mental health are the only things that keep us sane in an increasingly digital world.

My happy place is being snuggled on the sofa watching Classic Doctor Who, Star Trek (DS9 #1), or Blake’s 7. Glass of wine optional but preferred.

Welcome to An Honest Take. Let’s cut through the noise together.
